Welcome to Recognize Our Power! I’m Kelly Wallace, the host, and also a survivor of sexual abuse. When I was just eight years old, I testified against my paternal grandfather after being sexually assaulted and raped. He was found not guilty, and I was left struggling in school, suffering from anxiety, and eventually turning to alcohol to cope with my pain.
At 23, I chose to take control of my life and get sober. I realized that in order to do so, I had to really start to heal from all the heartbreak and trauma my little self had been through. Today, I am proud to say that I run two successful businesses, am finishing my memoir, and live a life that I love.
I started Recognize Our Power as a way to help other survivors come out of the shadows, own their stories, and find purpose in their lives. Through candid conversations with other survivors, we explore topics such as healing, self-care, and building resilience.
My hope is that through this podcast, you will be inspired to recognize your own power and start living the life you deserve. Remember, you are not alone, and there is always hope for a brighter future.
